Thinking of nothing but revenge against Azazel and Beleth, the demons responsible for the upheaval of order in Hell, Niccolo and Cadmus pursued them onto Earth only to have the portal shift and close behind them. The Horsemen found themselves standing on the plains of Napoli, their enemies nowhere to be found.

However, once some allies from Hell come to the surface, Niccolo and Cadmus quickly discover there is something more important than mere revenge. As long as Azazel and Beleth escape justice, there would be no way to know the designs of their tyrannical god or the danger they would face in the coming Apocalypse. So, even as Niccolo is plagued with memories of Lucifer's past and Cadmus is drowning in visions of the future, the Horsemen realize they have no other choice.

They would avenge Hell or die trying.

Ghosts of Earth The Forsaken Comedy Book 2 eBook Kevin Kauffmann

This novel is FILLED with amazing ideas. The characters were great, and Kauffmann even made me smile a few times. But the sun is obscured by thick clouds... and I am sad.

Just like in the first book, Kevin uses wayyyyyy too many dialogue tags, one every time someone talks. Annoying. This book has multiple viewpoints, no problem, but they run into each other, and sometimes these switches are not necessary. At the start of each chapter is a window into the past. It gives you a more in depth look at Lucifer's life, his emotions and thoughts, for Nico and Lucifer have become one. Often times they contain information that is important to the plot. Kauffmann has a tendency to show these flashbacks and then talk about what happened in them later. I makes me wonder: what was the point in showing the actual flashback? It felt like pointless filler.

One star down.

Kevin's villains also seem to suffer from extensive amounts of brain damage, and this is the worst part of all. Rather than fighting, they decide to talk the hero's to death. Rather than fighting, they run. Rather than fighting, they decide to stare and smile and act smug. Characters tend to gain powers on the fly. That's okay, but the method is where the problem lies. When they're in dire straits they do things that they don't know will work but ultimately do. Example: you throw your weapon and reach out to it, hoping that it will come back when it has never done this before and when you have no reason to suspect that it will do this.

Alongside the quest for revenge is Nico's identity crisis and Cadimus' struggles with his visions. This is where the novel really could have shined, but Kevin doesn't put enough time into this, he doesn't show you just how bad this is.Instead, he tells you more about how painful the visions and identity crisis is rather than showing you.

Two stars down.

From looking at Kauffmann's twitter feed, I have come to the conclusion that he rushed through this novel. He writes fast; he probably edits fast. I really believe he can write well, but he just needs to slow down.

Ghosts of Earth The Forsaken Comedy Book 2 eBook Kevin Kauffmann Reviews

The series is a well-written, disturbing saga that could pull at the drawstrings of one's faith in a benevolent supreme being which the author turns upside down and inside out. Read at your own risk of eternal damnation!
This, as the listing says, is Book Two of the series. If you haven't read book one, go read it. Now.

Let's just say this I can't wait for the third. Compared to the first book, this writing style is quite a bit easier to follow, and draws the reader into the story very well. I have come to really enjoy the changes that the author has done in the way he provides past information to the reader. It's always an interesting to see an author's writing style change, and compared to his first series, they read like different authors. (That's a good thing.)

If you're someone who is extremely religious, and can't separate their beliefs from a bit of entertainment, then this book isn't for you. Kauffmann takes as many liberties as he can possibly fit into one book in terms of different characters from the Judeo-Christian beliefs, and twists the beliefs on end. What was bad is now good, and those seen as good are actually the ones with messed up priorities.

If, however, you're someone who really enjoys a good read, no matter what the subject matter, then by all means, grab this book and read it. Be prepared to have a few hours of free time set aside to read this book in large portitions, as you probably won't want to set it down. I, personally, found myself up multiple nights past 2AM reading, knowing full well I had to be up at 5 and at work by 645. Totally worth it.

I can't recommend this book enough. One of the few times that I've actually found myself reading so intently that I forget what I am actually supposed to be doing.
This book was very well written and follows the trials and tribulations that Cadmus and Niccolo go through following the 2 Fallen to that murdered Lucifer to Earth. There are plots and twists and revelations. I really liked how Kevin Kauffman wrote the memories that plague the two Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Niccolo and Cadmus are accompanied by Paimon, Phenex, Marchosias, Cimeries and of course, the horses Plague and Mercy. I couldn't put the book down and am waiting for the next book to see what happens.
So hard to review without "spoilers". lively tale that tells the tale not told by the victors.
Kudos to the author for relatable demons and unctuous angels, also for capturing his reality and sharing it in a way that almost let's you feel light in ancient Italy and give it a different texture then the light in heaven.
Off to book 3.
There is only one incredibly horrible thing about this book you can't put it down unless you pass out. I like to read before I go to sleep, and if I read one of Kauffmann's books, well, I don't get any sleep. I just read and read and read and eventually go to work without a single wink of rest. I did this a couple nights in a row, and finally I just passed out in the middle of a chapter. But hey, I finally got some rest and work is actually a lot easier when you sleep. Who would've thought?

Yeah, this book is pretty good. Just try to start on a weekend so your productivity is impacted the least amount possible.
Ghosts of Earth is the continuation of To Hell with Love, and I have to say I love both of these books! I have been sucked into a world where everything you know to be true is lies, where God is the antagonist, and the devil was a really good guy. Now before you say no to this book because of religious beliefs, let me say that I am a born again Christian. This is a work of fiction, a fine one at that. It has been very enjoyable for me to suspend my beliefs, see notable men and women throughout history with totally different stories to tell. This book has an original and unique story line, characters you fall in love with (or hate), and the author has a great writing style. Im glad I found this book (and the previous one). There are a very small amount of editing error, but they do not, in any way, detract from the story. I suggest to anyone to pick up this book and start reading!
